If you’ve already heard about the scorpion incident of 2016 at the Cameron Village Harris Teeter, in Raleigh, you’ve probably caught yourself being a bit more cautious when reaching for bananas at your grocer’s produce section. If you haven’t heard about it, here’s a synopsis for you:
On Wednesday, July 28th, a Harris Teeter employee was stung by a scorpion (A SCORPION!) near the bananas. The employee wasn’t seriously injured, as only 1 of the 30 species of scorpions found in the U.S. are dangerous to humans, but some people were a little shaken at the prospect of a stinger lurking behind a bunch of bananas.
Fortunately, this is where the experts like us can come into play. If you find that your home has become the co-home of pests like:
- Roaches: They like to hide in your walls and are drawn to moisture, so you’re most likely to see them around your kitchen and bathroom sinks and plumbing. Avoid leaving out food, and check paper bags and cardboard boxes for stowaways before bringing them indoors.
- Ants: These little buggers don’t need much room at all to find their way all over your kitchen counters. Check to be sure windows are securely closed and for any small openings that would prove welcoming.
- Mice: Did you know a mouse can squeeze its way into a hole no larger than 1/4 “ in diameter? Plug all holes or small openings into your home.
Or any of the other dozens of pests you might stumble across in the backyard or your attic, we know how to take care of any and all situations professionally and humanely. We even have an idea of how to tackle prepping for surprise scorpion attacks (wear gloves when unpacking produce or products from overseas or from states like Arizona or Florida that have scorpion populations).
